To the best of my Dad's memory......

                      15th April 1945. The war was in full swing on the Hun's home turf. The 23rd (with the 8th Rifle Brigade) advanced onto the Belsen camp. The 23rd provided support from nearby. The Commandant was Joseph Kramer, together with Irma Greese (guessing the spelling!), both were hanged shortly afterwards.
